The world of labor is about opportunity costs.

Published on 9 October 2024 at 22:15

You put your time and effort where your values lay. When you labor it is in the hopes of creating something, either something you value or more resources for some later day.

In economics this trade off between laboring and doing anything else is called an opportunity cost. So when you're toiling away day after day on whatever you value or worse in a job you just "have to do" to make ends meet, remember it works both ways. Enjoy the time you have away from the labor too. The break from your work also has the opportunity cost of halting your labor. You are foregoing work in order to use resources for your own care and giving more value to both your labor and your rest.

Thanks to all the laborers out here grinding and if you can, please enjoy your time off!
